The Grove at Lyncombe Vale has been awarded 5 Stars and whose live-in owners offer luxury bed and breakfast facilities for discerning travellers. A classic Georgian house, with three double or twin rooms, all with en-suite or private bathrooms, it is surrounded by mature trees in a delightful 200 year old, flower filled garden. Only minutes from the world heritage city centre of Bath, this tranquil refuge is a haven for animal and birdlife. The accommodation has recently been lovingly restored and modernised with the emphasis on spaciousness, comfort and luxury and it reflects its owners artistic background containing their collection of books, paintings and figurative bronzes. Robert is a sculptor and is happy to show guests around his working home studio.
The Grove was once a very large house and its adjoining gardens were part of the pleasure gardens attached to an earlier spa near Bath. The house and gardens were divided in 1805 by two jealous brothers who inherited the property but could not get on with each other. Now The Grove is surrounded by woods where badgers, owls and deer roam freely. The extensive garden has a wide variety of local and tropical flora and fauna as well as some unusual topiary and sculpture. In the summer there is a croquet lawn for guests use. Recently discovered is an underground room thought to be the original Georgian icehouse. There are a variety of short and long walks nearby offering magnificant views over Bath and its surrounding countryside.
The Grove at Lyncombe Vale is a perfect romantic setting for that special weekend break. Visitors are often surprised and delighted by the garden, which is amazingly secluded and tranquil despite being so close to the city. The only sound you'll hear at night is the toot of an owl or the scampering of a badger!
