Access Statement
Introduction
We welcome all visitors to The Grove at Lyncombe Vale and aim to provide a quality service catering for the needs of all our guests. We are a non-smoking establishment. The Grove is very peaceful and quiet at nights.
The following statement is a summary of what we offer you when you stay with us. If you have any specific questions we are happy to address them by phone (01225 484 282) or email robertstrickland44@yahoo.co.uk
• Check in time is between 4.30pm and 6.30 pm only unless otherwise requested.
Pre-Arrival
• All correspondence, pre-arrival, can be made available in large print if requested.
• We have a website
www.bathbandb.com and email facility. We can be contacted by phone on 01225 484 282.
• The nearest train station is 1/2 miles away at the bottom of our hill and takes ten minutes to walk to.
• We can collect you from the station if required by previous arrangement.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• We are situated in the area of Lyncombe Hill. If you have sat nav our post code is BA2 4LR
• A tarmac drive is outside the house with parking on a level tarmac surface for two cars.
• Numerous outside lights for arrivals at night.
• On arrival you will be met and offered assistance with your luggage.
• Check in times are normally between 4.30pm and 6.30 pm
Main Entrance & Reception
• The main entrance is approached via a flag stoned path beside the front lawn.
• The approach to the front door is straight and takes you directly into the hall - there is a step up into the kitchen off the hall of about 30 cms. There is an outside light by the front door.
• The doorway is 1mtr wide leading to a wooden floored hallway.
• For visitors in wheelchairs or who cannot negotiate the steps, please call us as we can help you into the house. Our entrance has previously been used by a wheelchair user with no difficulty.
• Once in the house, as we are a Georgian House, we have three flights of stairs.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
• The decor in the hallway is neutral and light.
• There are two main ceiling lights and two wall lights..
• We have fire alarms fitted.
• The house is on three floors.
• There are 36 stairs each measuring 16cm high, 25cm deep and 110 cm wide. There is a short pile carpet on the stairs, continuing throughout the second floor except for the bathrooms where there are tiles and vinyl flooring.
• There are handrails are on our staircase on one side.
• The breakfast room/kitchen is off this hallway. Door width 80 cms
• The floor covering in the breakfast room is grey flagstone.
• All guest rooms have lockable keys.
• You will be given a key to the front door which has a torch on the end.
• Our sitting room has an open fire.
Public Areas - WC
• Two Bedrooms are en suite and one with private facilities.
• A public WC available on the ground floor. This is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
• The first floor double room is not suitable for wheelchair users.
• The door widths into the rooms is 92cm.
• The rooms are carpeted with short pile plain carpet.
• Each room has two windows making them very light.
• The bathroom floors are tiled. Rubber mats can be provided.
• A ceiling light and an emergency light are at the top of the stairs and two wall lights along the landing.
• Each room has a tea tray with cordless kettle for tea/coffee making.
• Easy chairs are provided in the rooms.
• Rooms are very spacious and accessible.
• White Bath robes are provided for your comfort
Eating at The Grove
• Breakfast is served in the kitchen off the hallway at a communal kitchen table and sometimes play background music.
• Chairs can be moved on request.
• Seat height of the dining chairs is 45cm. They have no arms.
Laundry
• If you have been traveling for a while, we are happy to do some laundry by special request.
Treatments
• We can arrange for a private aromatherapy/masseuse to visit The Grove. Please ask us for details when booking.
Outdoor Facilities
• Croquet can be played in the garden, please ask us for the croquet set.
Grounds and Gardens
• Seating in the sheltered courtyard area. Difficult access without hand rails and not recommended for people with restricted movement as the garden is laid out on a set of terraces. Having said that it is a beautiful italianate style garden with unusual/rare plants.
• The garden is currently laid to lawn with a stoned path and small fishpond leading to the back door.
Additional Information
• Due to the fact that there is very little mobile phone reception in the area guests are able to use our private phone if necessary.
• A fire procedure instructions are placed in all guest rooms.
• Well behaved dogs can be made welcome by prior arrangement.
• Our fridge can be used for medication etc and our freezer for ice packs.
• We are very approachable and hope that guests feel able to enquire about any special requirement they may have.
